Title
Institutionalizing Evidence Use: Gains, Shortfalls and Lessons from South African National Evaluation System
Description
In 2011, the South African government established the NES, completed more than 70 evaluations of important government programmes, and developed guidelines and tools for government to evaluate programmes. In this half-day seminar, we explore questions such as, What progress has been achieved implementing a NES in South Africa? Has it strengthened the use of evidence by government and improved quality of policies and programmes? Is the culture of reflection and learning growing within government? What is the significance of the system for the field of evaluation in South Africa?
