Khulisa gLOCAL Skills building workshop- Using WhatsApp as a Data Source for Evaluation
In 2020, a project that Khulisa was evaluating pivoted away from in-person coaching of teachers to a virtual coaching model using WhatsApp. Khulisa then requested that the coaches download the WhatsApp chats and succeeded in receiving the data from 14 groups (we should have received approximately 20 groups). We were able to use these downloads to answer critical evaluation questions and triangulate other findings. During this skills-building session, we will teach evaluators how to download this type of data (both narrative and visual/pictures) and how to analyze and present the data. We will also share our findings and how we presented the data.
