The state of evidence of climate change adaptation in low- and middle-income countries

Targeted information, based on evidence, is a crucial component for decision-making in the field of climate change adaptation. However, because climate adaptation is still a fairly new policy field, accessing such evidence can be cumbersome and challenging. While publications in the field of adaptation have risen exponentially in recent years, evidence is often scattered across many different studies and evaluations. Against this background the authors conducted a series of evidence gap maps, intervention heat maps, systematic reviews and a meta-analysis of climate change adaptation interventions in low- and middle-income countries. Starting with a brief reflection with regard to the different methodologies, the authors present the state of evidence of what works in the field of climate change interventions.
